Wives sue husband for sexless marriages

The French man was fined $12,000 under article 215 of France’s civil code, which says married couples must agree to a “shared communal life”. The wife filed for divorce two years ago, blaming the break-up on her husband’s lack of activity in the bedroom and demanding compensation for “lack of sex over 21 years of marriage”.

The ex-husband claimed “tiredness and health problems” had prevented him from being more attentive between the sheets.

But a judge ruled: “A sexual relationship between husband and wife is the expression of affection they have for each other, and in this case it was absent.

In another case, a Dubai woman was suing her ex-husband for 45 million dirhams (about $12 million) because he wouldn't have sex with her during their marriage.

The unidentified woman told the court her ex-husband suffers from sexual impotency which caused her mental and emotional anguish by failing to fulfill her needs. The woman said her ex-husband would not have sex with her in the first 4 months of the 15 month marriage that began in 2008.
