Tanning beds are bad news

Almost everyone who frequents a tanning salon or exposes themselves to the sun is putting themselves at risk for skin cancer. The risk is greatest for people with fair skin; blonde, red, or light hair; and blue, green, or gray eyes.

Indoor ultraviolet (UV) tanners are 74 percent more likely to develop melanoma than those who have never tanned indoors.

In 2009, the World Health Organization classified UV-emitting devices, including commercial tanning beds, as definitely causing cancer in humans.
